            As the theme of this issue is giving back, I am reminded of the above quote from Winston Churchill. Fortunately for us, as trial lawyers, we get to make a living by doing something we love and therefore have even more of a reason to give back - whether with our money, our time, or our expertise. MAJ has many ways to help you give back and I am excited about the renewed energy and focus we have coming from the MAJ Foundation under the direction of this year’s Chair, Chris Wright. This year, the Foundation will be putting on a golf outing as our main fundraiser. I encourage you to come out and enjoy a round while raising money for the Foundation’s work supporting great causes. The Foundation also has many ways for you to contribute your time or your money: the article Chris wrote for this issue has all the details.

            The legislative session is now in full swing, and you have a robust lobbying and legislative team in Annapolis working hard for you and your clients. Our lobbying and legislative team works tirelessly to review every bill that is introduced during the session to make sure nothing is being introduced that can harm our clients. Throughout the legislative session we will have members testifying on bills that are important to our client’s interests so that our civil justice system is protected and hopefully improved. By the time you read this we will also have had Justice Day, where trial lawyers from all over Maryland meet with our Delegates and Senators to tell them about the issues facing our clients and ask for their support on pro-civil justice bills.             Our efforts in Annapolis would not be possible without the Legislative Leaders Circle. If you are a member, please consider upgrading your membership or recruiting others to join. If you are not a member, I ask you to join: the stakes are too high not to have everyone possible on board. The LLC supports the work of the MAJ Legislative Committee and the MAJ PAC. Both are non-partisan with the goal of advancing the civil justice system and protecting the rights of our clients to seek justice. Biography

David A. Muncy is a graduate of the University of Baltimore School of Law and a partner at Plaxen Adler Muncy. David joined the practice in 2012 upon graduating from UB. Since then, he has dedicated his practice to representing people injured in motor vehicle and premises liability cases, injured workers, and disabled people seeking Social Security benefits. He has been named a Rising Star every year since 2017 by Maryland Super Lawyers and is a 2024 Super Lawyer. David has been on the Board of MAJ since 2016 and has chaired the New Lawyers and Auto Negligence sections, and frequently testifies in Annapolis on behalf of MAJ. David lives in Woodstock with his wife and daughter.
