Maryland appellate rules have undergone many changes in recent years. These changes impact the timing of briefing, the content of the briefs, and whether you will even have an oral argument. Trial lawyers need to know how these rules affect their potential appeals. This program will provide a critical update of the state of appellate rules in Maryland.
The new rules also increase the importance of effective writing in Maryland appellate practice. The program will give attendees guidance on how they can improve their writing for an appellate audience. Appellate writing is different from writing for a trial court, but the skills you will learn here apply to all kinds of written advocacy.
